Customizing a Squarespace Website Template

Objective

To fully customize a Squarespace website template for launching a virtual assistant business or any other service-based business.

Key Steps

  1. Setting up the Homepage:

    • Click the gear icon on the welcome instruction page.

    • Set the actual homepage by clicking the gear icon, scrolling down, and selecting "Set as Homepage."

    • Duplicate the homepage as a backup in case of errors.

  2. Customizing Colors and Fonts:

    • Access "Site Styles" at the top right.

    • Customize color schemes, themes, and fonts to match branding.

    • Edit color palettes by entering hex codes or choosing presets.

  3. Uploading Logo and Customizing Header:

    • Click "Edit" at the top left to access the site header.

    • Add company name for SEO purposes.

    • Upload logo and customize social links, text, and navigation design.

  4. Editing Content and Images:

    • Edit text sections by clicking on them and using the toolbar for formatting.

    • Replace images by clicking on them, selecting "Replace," and uploading new images.

    • Adjust image focal points for proper display.

  5. Customizing Sections:

    • Duplicate sections for backup before editing.

    • Move sections up or down to rearrange the layout.

    • Use the "Add Block" option to insert text, buttons, images, and more.

  6. Footer and Site Settings:

    • Edit footer content with business information and links.

    • Access site settings to manage site visibility, SEO, domain registration, and billing.

    • Invite contributors, set permissions, and manage developer tools if needed.
